Active Risk Management and health and safety specialist Cardinus Limited are now sister companies in an acquisition which extends ARM’s occupational road risk management proposition into the wider health and safety arena.
The acquisition of Cardinus, a specialist supplier of online risk assessment and e-learning in the area of health and safety, was explained by Director of Active Risk Management, Andy Hawkes: “We have undertaken a number of successful joint initiatives with Cardinus, including the recent development of a full white label solution for a key client. This deal effectively cements that partnership, and I am delighted that we have secured the expertise of Chris Baldwin, Jon Abbott and their colleagues, who are recognised as market leaders in their specialist field.”
Cardinus will continue to operate under its existing branding from its base in East Grinstead.
January 2007 - New rules for goods vehicles and minibuses
From 1st January 2007 all goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes maximum permissible weight up to 7.5 tonnes, and minibuses over 8 seats, are subject to new UK legislation. Such vehicles are banned from using the right lane of a 3 lane motorway, and new vehicles are required to be fitted with speed limiters. For goods vehicles the limit must be set at 56mph (90kph); for minibuses the limit is 60mph.
The new legislation brings these vehicles in line with the requirements for Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs) and effectively brings the UK one step closer to harmonisation with European requirements.
